A Vizagatapatam ivory sewing casket, second quarter 19th century,
of sarcophagus form with sunburst motif to the domed cover with reeded sides and lac decorated continuous leaf and flower banded borders, on four gadrooned bun feet, the sandalwood and ivory veneered interior with fitted tray containing lidded compartments and sewing accessories,

Condition:
Some occasional lifting and re-glueing to the Ivory veneers on the exterior. The cover is slightly warped to the right hand side and doesn’t fit flush. The lac work decoration on the left-hand lower band is worn or faded. The metal hinged lid support to the right hand side of the interior of the box is broken.
