A Victorian yellow metal (probably 18ct) and shield shaped sardonyx 'poison' ring, size L/M, gross weight 5.2 grams. Condition: Stone surface has minor scratches. Hinged top does not open, appears to have been soldered shut with lead visible in places. Three stress cracks to the shank on the interior of the shoulders. Numerous nicks and surface scratches to the shank and setting. Worn inscription on the under side of the ring head, 1852 date just visible, also London date letter for 1852 to the left. 'ct' only stamped on interior shank.
