A Victorian microscope by C.C. Collins, London, in mahogany case

A Victorian microscope by C.C. Collins, London, in mahogany case
Estimate £200-400

Case in good condition, possibly repolished to the door, handle has lost much of its original gilding, comes with a working key. Main body of the microscope in honest untouched condition, some fine oxidisation scratches to the main barrel and other signs of oxidisation elsewhere, one clip that holds the slides in place is missing, light scuffing and scratching to the blackened part of the frame, comes with three brass lenses in cases, an additional magnifying glass with stand and two slides, so appears to be lacking 5 accessories judging from the number of apertures remaining.

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
