Lot 405 , A Victorian brass mounted hardwood campaign chest, W.2ft 6in. D.1ft 3in. H.3ft 6in.
A Victorian brass mounted hardwood campaign chest, with two short, one deep and two long drawers, W.2ft 6in. D.1ft 3in. H.3ft 6in.
Estimate £1,200-1,800
Overall of even mid brown with a hint of red colour, looks to be a fairly rough example with the finish to the timbers left showing undulations in the grain, some small damages to some of the brass mounts particularly towards the back, screws look to have a variety of finishes although must are dark steel, top left drawer has two locks but no key, all the other drawers with one lock but no key. This chest is almost certainly Anglo Indian or certainly colonnially made, sits on lotus leaf carved bun feet, overall except for the lack of keys in good condition.
Width 77cm
