A Victorian Hertfordshire Constabulary truncheon, painted gilt Royal Arms, crest and S & N, H.C., 1849, length 39.5cm
Condition: Loss of the painted decoration to the top where it has eroded the V and the top of the R along with any other motifs, paint is worn from black through to blue and then the natural wood showing beneath that, otherwise main body with one or two small areas of wood but good, handle again with wear to some of the raised sections, a small hole is drilled through the tip of the handle. Provenance: Comes froms a local Lewes collection. The paint is black over blue paint.
