A Victorian Castellani gold and Roman carnelian intaglio archaeological revival style brooch, the oval carnelian carved with an angel, signed en verso, 49mm.

Three tiny nicks to the edge of the stone on the reverse side. There is also an internal flaw on the back which just breaks the surface. No visible damage to the front of the stone. The dark marks within the grooves is dirt. One of the small rivets/claws for the stone, visible on the back, is missing. Minor surface scratches and slight wear to the gold, commensurate with age and some use.
