A Staunton pattern boxwood and ebonised wood chess set, complete with thirty two pieces, with 3.5 inch kings, together with a Jaques chessboard
Estimate £200-300

This is boxwood and ebonised wood not ivory.
Black king slightly taller than the other, so black king is 9.5cm, boxwood king is 9cm, similarly black queen a fraction taller than the other, one boxwood knight looks like it has come away from its base and been re-attached, both black castles with tiny chipping to the castellation, one boxwood pawn with a repair to its collar, one black pawn with section missing from its collar, another black pawn with denting to the top ball, a further black pawn with loss to the collar and three nicks out of the base and another black pawn with a crack through the base. All with loaded bases, castles and knights with the crown stamps to the tops.
The board looks later but has the Jaques London stamp, some light scuffing and scratching particularly around the border.
