A Smith, Beck & Beck Achromatic stereoscopic slide viewer, no.1717, housed in a fine mahogany desk top casket, fitted with a number of glass and card slide

The front panel of the case has a crack which has been stabilised with tape on the back and a piece of moulding is missing below the lock, the viewer slides out from the bottom of the cabinet compartment and then sits on top of the cabinet, piece of the moulding on the left hand side of the top of the cabinet has been broken and restuck, the binocular lenses slide in and out on a ratchet by turning a wheel on each side, the mahogany bottom panel which the eye pieces are attached to has broken in two places, this could be reglued and re-attached, the back of the viewer has leaf springs which hold a separate leather lined mirror in position, in front of the photograph which slots in position via leaf springs - one of which has snapped off, the case is generally sun bleached, the cabinet contained a quantity of stereographic cards, subjects including European views, sculpture and family groups, there is also some French glass stereographic slides with European views, many of these are cracked, there is an unusual one of Luna Photographs by Warren Delarue enlarged and published by Smith Beck & Beck, again this is cracked.
