A Napoleon III ormolu mounted, pietra dura and ebony pier cabinet, with acanthus frieze and central door decorated with flowers and fruit, on plinth foot, W.3ft 4in. D.1ft 7in. H.4ft 2in.

A fairly broad split running almost across the entire width of the back approx. 2 - 3 inches from the back, otherwise some water stains, minor dents and knocks to the top, crack described does drop down into the right hand side of the top and runs in a finer crack towards the front, brass stringing to the front right corner has come loose at the top and is totally missing from the lower portion, ormolu mounts all present but in varying stages of oxidisation, main door requires some pushing to shut it deep enough for the lock to work but the lock and key are working, there are minor dents and knocks to the ebony and two splits, each running vertically down to the top left and right flower panels, each split is approx. 2 inches, there is a corresponding split running down below the right panel, one white flower bud missing from the top right flower panel, some short sections of stem missing from the central flower panel, at the top running up to the white flower, to the right of it where the cherries are both stems missing, small section beneath the bird and one sprig below the ribbon, in addition stonework missing from the bug near the top white flower and from the tail and leg and beak of the bird, three leaves missing, probably also other minor losses of stone, please see additional photographs. One cherry missing from the lower right side and another missing from the lower left side along with a small section of stem, scuffing across the top of the plinth where the door has rubbed against it, interior with a few old splits but overall fair condition retaining original single central shelf, plinth foot has lost one strip of brass from the back right otherwise is scuffed and rubbed at the extremities, remains of pad feet now inside the cabinet.
