Estimate £2,000-3,000

A fairly rare and handsome table in honest but slightly neglected condition, leather skiver is worn with signs of wear and discolouration much of the gilding is now worn away, tortoiseshell banding around this is missing in some sections, ormolu edge is coming away down one side, frieze drawer is made from mahogany, escutcheon looks original as does the lock but no key present, drawer once had internal divisions in the form of housing ink bottles, escutcheon probably later and lock may equally be an old but associated replacement, boullework overall looks original and in fair condition, signs of wear from polishing over the years and some areas where brass work has been lost notably to the left leg beneath the frieze drawer which also has the top of some brass cornering starting to come away, back left leg has equally lost some brass work, overall it is advised that you study the photographs available to assess the extent of losses to both brass and tortoiseshell, stretcher looks original again some loss to some brass on one of the arms, feet look original, overall this table has seen fair wear over the years with some losses and some old restorations to the boulle work, but should restore to good effect, in our opinion this is a period Louis XIV table.
