A Jumeau bisque head doll, stamped '7EJ', late 19th century, with brown cane rod glass eyes, black painted eyelashes and closed mouth, pierced ears, impressed mark to head, jointed painted wood and composition body and limbs, the lower back stamped 'Jumeau Medaille d'or, Paris', wearing a velvet and silk gilt metal thread dress and leather shoes, height 17.5in., small firing crack to right ear

Head generally grubby with glue residue, firing crack across her right ear, extremely shallow splinter chip by piercing of right ear which can just be detected with a thumb nail. Some wear to composition body around head socket, wear around sockets on wooden limbes and on composition hands consistent with age, silk and lacework dress damp spotted, occasional minor losses to bead / sequin work, appears to be an early wig.
The mouth and nostrils have probably been over-painted and there is dirt residue at the corners.
