The lid of box scratched and warped so does not close properly. Baize inside has been replaced, the old label is still present but rather tatty. Knights have the red crown stamp to one of each as do castles, black finial to king is unvarnished, no naming stamp around the base. Small chipping around the crown of the queen. Both bishops with repairs to finials, ear of one knight chipped away. One pawn cracked. Opposing side - wear to the finial of the king which is stamped Jaques London, around the base. Wear around the crown of the queen, finial possibly replaced, certainly worn down to a dark brown colour. Both bishops with similarly worn finials and other wear elsewhere. One knight with both ears broken and other wear to the other. Castles slightly worn, three pawns with cracks and splits, others with slight wear. Overall fair condition, thought to day to circa 1865-70 Baize to base pads looks replaced. Pieces not weighted.
