Lot 48 , A Japanese silvered copper-bronze figure of a peacock, Meiji period, length 25cm, lacking base
A Japanese silvered copper-bronze figure of a peacock, Meiji period, standing with its tail feathers trailing behind, engraved two character signature, possibly 'Keijo?', length 25cm, lacking base
Estimate £200-300
The gilding or silvering on the peacocks plumage is largely worn off except in the recesses but is largely intact on the underside, it is possible that the left leg is slightly bent backwards as it doesn't sit completely flat and both feet have holes underneath where they were probably fixed to some sort of base, possibly part of a larger group originally, otherwise in good condition.
