A Japanese silver, ivory and shibayama inlaid kodansu (table cabinet), Meiji period, five sides decorated with birds amid foliage in mother of pearl and abalone inlay to shaped ivory panels, on an embossed silver thousand flower ground, the hinged door enclosing a nashiji ground interior fitted with three lacquer decorated drawers, on bamboo shaped supports, with a looped swing handle, two character signature to the base, height 16.5cm, length 17.2cm, width 13cm, slight faults

Condition:
There are splits and small losses to the inlay on two of the panels on the top of the cabinet and a split and loose piece of the edge moulding, there is a flower loss to the ivory panel fan shaped panel to the back, splits and losses to the panels on the right side and to the front. The three drawers appear to be in good condition. There’s also a loose piece of silver moulding which goes to the side of the base contained within a drawer, with evidence of old glue where it was once stuck in position now needs re-soldering. The front panel is also a little loose on one corner because the moulding to the base is not attached.
