A Japanese bronze lamp, Meiji period,
modelled as two monkeys clambering up a shaft of bamboo, on a wood base carved as rockwork,

Condition:
It appears that the bronze has always been designed as an electric lamp as there is accommodation for a flex at the base of the bamboo shaft and a hole for a fixing at the top, the lamp now with a later plastic fitting which can be removed. There is some wear and scuffing to the wood base round the edges otherwise in good condition height of bronze is 30.9cm
