A Japanese Satsuma pottery cube-shaped koro and cover, Meiji period, signed Fujisan, finely painted to each side with bijin in shaped reserves on a dotted ground with wave pierced borders, two sides decorated with foliage, the cover pierced with a wave design to the top and lattice to the underside, four character gilt and iron red seal mark, width 6.5cm

There is a very shallow 4mm wide x 2mm deep glaze chip to the very top inside edge of the koro next to where the cover fits in, this isn't all together noticeable as it is an old chip that has dulled down, just along from this on the same side there is a slight burst bubble in the gilding, the gilding is generally very good all over, very light patches of staining to the underside otherwise good condition.
