A Japanese Meiji period eight piece ivory dressing table set, carved in relief with apes, housed in a velvet lined tan leather dressing case, 14in.

The leather cased is scuffed and flaking with losses to the exterior, the ivory fittings inside however are generally very good condition, comprises a pair of hand brushes, two oblong clothes brushes - the larger with some slight age cracks, a shoe horn, a button hook and a pair of tweezers - these have a crack to the handle, and a rectangular box and cover, the monkey finial has been re-glued in the wrong position, inside the drawers you also find a hair comb carved with monkeys and a plain bottle shaped vessel which may be for a powder puff, the screw fitting on this is extremely tight, there is some damage to the blue watered silk lining in places and some areas of the velvet, the lock on the case has been broken to gain access and needs replacement and there is some denting to the leather around the area, otherwise in good condition.
