Lot 455 , A George III silver inkstand, 18.5 oz.
A George III silver inkstand, of rectangular form, with beaded border, engraved monogram and three mounted glass wells with two pen recesses, on claw and ball feet, Charles Aldridge & Henry Green, London, 1779, 10in, well lids unmarked, 18.5 oz.
Estimate £140-180
There is a small hole to the silver within the base. The three glass wells fit their chambers well, but as mentioned the lids are unmarked and considering the base is marked in all the relevant places, the mounts may not be original. One of the mounts is split to one side. One of the glass wells also has a very badly damaged neck. There is an engraved monogram towards the center of the base. Hallmarks on the base are clear.
