Lot 788 , A George III mahogany four tier whatnot, W.1ft 2.5in. D.10.5in. H.2ft 8in.
A George III mahogany four tier whatnot, of unusual tapered form, with frieze drawer and fluted stiles, W.1ft 2.5in. D.10.5in. H.2ft 8in.
Estimate £300-500
Overall of an even reddish brown mahogany colour, a fair number of old marks, dents and scratches to the top which also has some matted patches and would benefit from re-polishing, brass knob handle is slightly bent out of shape, overall the frame and carcass have a slight wobble so require some attention, the three shelves have come unstuck from their supports and require re-attaching, all are very slightly bowed but not significantly so, fine small dents and scratches to the extremities of the stiles but overall this is a handsome honest piece that should restore to good effect.
