Lot 830 , A George III inlaid oak eight day longcase clock, H.200cm

A George III inlaid oak eight day longcase clock, H.200cm

A George III inlaid oak eight day longcase clock, dial signed Richard Sith? Wigton H.200cm
Estimate £100-150

Overall with a fairly rich even mid brown tone. A little faded perhaps in the oak panels to the trunk door and plinth. Case has seen fair wear and tear over the years, with almost certainly some reconstruction to the hood. The trunk has splitting running through the veneers. The door is slightly offset to the right and the lock missing with the latch just about holding the door shut. Old repaired central to the box base. Some scratching and and scuffing to the centre of the trunk door. Dial looks untouched for many years, but has been cleaned in the past. Movement complete, but not tested for time-keeping. Comes with a brass-faced pendulum and two cast iron weights.
