A George II horn snuff box, impressed with the Monarch's head and crest, with traces of old gilding, 3in.

The horn to the cover is quite thin and translucent, there are remnants of the gilding in the moulded decoration, the gilding is particularly noticeable when viewed from the underside, there are a few minor marks and indentations on the underside of the cover, some of these may be where the panel was pinned in position in the making, the base of the box has a few minor nibbles on the upper edge and two splinter losses on the bottom edge, the base panel also has an indentation where probably beetle lavae has eaten through the horn at some stage in the distant past, otherwise generally good condition.
