A French possibly Lyon, 19th century ornate silk and fine wool woven Paisley patterned shawl. Woven in polychromes coloured silks and wools on a jacquard loom, using an array of punch cards to create this elaborate design. These shawls originally inspired by Kashmere shawls, were made to be worn.
165cm wide x 348cm long.
Condition: there are small moth holes all over, mostly near the centre which could be professionally restored, but the colours are good with no fading.
