A Dunhill Namiki maki-e (lacquer) tallboy lighter, c.1930, decorated with a pheasant perched on a maple branch, the reverse inscribed, Namiki-kan, (Supervised by Namiki) and with artist's signature of Shozan for Tadao Sato with his red seal, the base stamped 'DUNHILL FAB SUISSE CARTIER LICENCE’, 6.4 cm high

Condition:
There is wear and slight flaking to the lacquer on the upright edges of the lighter. There are other occasional minor nicks and scratches to the lacquer surface. There is some flaking and lacquer loss to the very top of the lighter. The wheel for the Flint turns but the Flint does not engage, some oxidisation to the interior workings, dent to one of the bottom corners of the base.
