A Doulton Lambeth 'Tudor Rose' stoneware washing-line-post finial, c.1936, designed by Gilbert Bayes for the St Pancras Housing Association Flats, modelled in relief on a rectangular plinth with Yorkshire and Lancashire roses, 34cm high, on a later painted wood plinth, 36.5cm high overall. Provenance; Ann Turner Collection of Doulton Pottery, Sworders, Lot 99 16th May 2023 Cracked through the base - metal shaft inserted to the base. Cracks running up both sides and the base. Top fruit appears to be sprayed. Wood plinth with flaking and wear. Looks to be the very example illustrated in the 2002 edition of The Doulton Lambeth Wares.
