A DSO, MC medal group awarded to Major General Douglas Henry Pratt (1892-1958) of the Royal Irish Regiment, promoted towards the end of his career to Major General, as liaison in Washington D.C. where he oversaw upgrades to the Sherman tank. The medal group comprises; a Distinguished Service Order (DSO), a Military Cross, a First World War trio (oak leaf to Victory Medal), Second World War Medals; the Defence Medal, the War Medal and the 1939-45 Star, the George VI Coronation Medal, the Badge of the Ordinary Military Knight Commander and Companion Medal and the United States of America Medal, together with its cased miniature group.
Two further miniature groups; a cased First World War trio, with 5th Aug – 22nd Nov 1914 bar to Victory Medal, and a Second World War group comprising; an India General Service Medal (1936), the Defence Medal, the War Medal and a Palestine General Service Medal (1945-48) with oak leaf.

Footnote; after training at Sandhurst, Major General Pratt spent the early years of his career during the First World War, receiving three mentions in Dispatches and the awards of the MC and DSO. He joined the Royal Tank Regiment in 1916, and towards the end of the Second World War he was posted to the United States in the role of Deputy Director of the British Supply Mission in Washington D.C. He retired in 1946.
