A Chinese white jade plaque, 19th century, one side carved in relief with a sage in a landscape, the reverse with a fourteen character inscription, the stone of good even tone with a slight hint of russet to one corner, 6cm

From the collection of a Hong Kong Tea Merchant who worked for Jardine Matheson & Co Ltd, before 1940.

There are a few internal fissures to the stone which the carver has incorporated into the carving otherwise in good condition with no chips or restoration.
