* A Chinese white jade group of two catfish, 18th century, each fish biting a sprig of lingzhi fungus, the stone of good even tone with some occasional paler inclusions, 6.5cm, on a square hardwood plinth

Provenance: Roger Keverne Ltd; 20th June, 2005.

The depiction of catfish with lingzhi fungus forms the rebus niannian ruyi or 'May your wishes come true year after year.'
Please note this lot attracts an additional import tax of 5% on the hammer price

Condition:
A little dirt in the crevices, a small silver arrow drawn near the central recess indicating what may be a flaw in the stone.
