A Chinese huanghuali folding tray top table, Guangxu period (1875-1908), with keywork frieze, the fold-out base forming an X shaped frame with key carved spandrels, the hinges with Guangxu character mark washers, 79.5 x 45cm H.65cm

Provenance: The vendor purchased this table from John Sparks Ltd, Mount St, London in the 1970's.

Maybe a mixture of huanghuali and hongmu wood, there is some shrinkage to the top with a slight gap to one side and a section of the frieze of the tray top has a repair to one corner, the folding egg shaped base has one later replacement keywork spandrel, the others with occasional cracks to them, some occasional old filler to some natural faults in the wood, otherwise in good condition.
