Lot 182 , A Chinese embroidered silk midnight blue robe and a similar blue jacket, late Qing dynasty,

A Chinese embroidered silk midnight blue robe and a similar blue jacket, late Qing dynasty,

A Chinese embroidered silk midnight blue robe and a similar blue jacket, late Qing dynasty, the sleeveless robe woven with cranes amid clouds on a midnight blue ground, landscape borders, the blue jacket decorated with birds amid flowers, lime green floral and black satin borders
Estimate £500-700

The long sleeveless robe decorated with cranes is generally a bit grubby to the ivory borders, with worn torn threads around the bottom edge at the back and some tears and wear to the collar below the highest button, a few minor unpicked threads to the embroidered decoration, generally speaking in reasonable condition with some light staining to the pale blue inner lining.
The accompanying jacket in the lot has quite a lot of wear to the sleeves in particular and has come apart to the stitching on many of the joints which have been later repaired and held together with a fabric tape on the interior, but only a few occasional unpicked threads.
