A Chinese Transitional blue and white ‘Ladies’ rolwagen vase, Chongzhen period (1627-1644), painted with four ladies gallivanting in a garden with a gentleman, possibly a scene from the Romance of the Western Chamber, the reverse with banana plants and rocks encircled by billowing clouds, below an incised band of chevrons and painted leaf lappets, unglazed base, 44.5cm, section of neck re-glued

Condition:
Typical minor glaze imperfections. A section at the neck and rim has been broken away and re glued with small splinter losses to the area. A ‘burst bubble’ glaze loss below the figures, towards the base. Firing cracks to the base do not reach the interior.
