A Chinese Lac Burgaute rectangular panel, Kangxi period (1662-1722), decorated with two scholars and two attendants in a mountainous river landscape, inlaid in abalone and gilt foil on a black lacquer ground, 22.5cm x 13cm excl. later frame, mount and glazing

The panel may originally been removed from a box or similar, there are a few small areas of flaking to abalone inlay on the mountain towards the top and to the pavilion lower right, the rocks centre left and the rocks lower left, otherwise in good condition.
