A Cantonese mother of pearl gaming box, mid 19th century, the interior fitted with five lidded boxes containing shaped mother of pearl bezique counters, the exterior with blind fretwork panels decorated with birds and butterflies amid flowering branches, on four gilt metal claw feet, 27cm wide, sections detached

Sections of the mother-pearl veneer have become detached with some losses and old glue around the area. The glue is drying out so other areas are also becoming loose. One edge strip to one of the five containers is detached. The counters appear to be in good condition.
