A 19th century flame figured mahogany framed cross stitch sampler dated 1842 by Mary Ann Cowell aged 10 years. Worked with the alphabet, verse and spot motifs of flowers, trees, dogs and deer, within an ornate border. 28cm x 28cm. Condition - there is a large hole on the top border, which could be covered by adding an inner slip. The colours and embroidery and frame are otherwise are strong.
