Lot 441 , A 19th century Venetian painted and parcel gilt blackamoor torchere, H.6ft 9in.

A 19th century Venetian painted and parcel gilt blackamoor torchere, H.6ft 9in.

A 19th century Venetian painted and parcel gilt blackamoor torchere, the figure standing upon a pedestal and holding a tray and a tazza, H.6ft 9in.
Estimate £400-600

A fair amount of old chipping and small losses to the painted and gilded finish throughout the piece, notably a few around the rim of the upper held dish with a crack running through one side of it, some losses to the black moulding around the hairline, one side of the tray broken away with one section retained but a small wedge missing and extensive scuffing and losses to paintwork around the bottom of the square plinth with some old worm holes, this does not look to have had any later retouching or restoration work so presents itself in honest condition.
