Lot 153 , A 19th century Anglo-Indian stag horn tea caddy, 14in.

A 19th century Anglo-Indian stag horn tea caddy, 14in.

A 19th century Anglo-Indian stag horn tea caddy, with two canisters and associated glass bowl, 14in.
Estimate £200-300

In nice clean condition with only a few minor faults - the sandalwood lining to the cover has two small splits on the interior near the back corners, this isn't visible on the exterior as that is made horn, the left canisters hinged cover is slightly bowed upwards, not too badly and both canisters have a tiny triangular loss to the horn next to the hinge, the sandalwood base panel is split again only evident when you remove the later moulded glass mixing bowl or look underneath and there is a very slight open gap to the cover and box when closed starting from the left and becoming slightly wider to the right which may be accounted for by the extremely hot weather we have at the moment, the lock works, the original key is slightly bent at the handle end and the box has its original feet.
