A 17th century Point Plat Venetian needle lace fall collar. Fall collars became high fashion mostly for men in the 1640’s-70’s. This delicate collar was possibly commissioned by the church for ecclesiastical use for a Cardinal or possibly a courtier. Made in five sections, skilfully sewn together to create this large horseshoe shape. 70cm deep x 122cm wide. Condition - some picots are detached but can be professionally restored. Any damage is acceptable considering it’s use and age.
