A 17th century English stumpwork panel, depicting the story of Rebecca and Eliezer at the well, 10.75 x 14.5in.

Overall in very good condition with nice bright colours, to the top right section there is a small gap in the fabric probably around 1cm x 1cm and then to the left of that there is some loose fabric with a slight hole, nothing major, to the left top side beneath the green cloud section there is also what could be a tear in the fabric which is about 5 - 6cm or possibly just some loss of fabric there, looking down to the left handside the same again above an insect which should be visible on the photograph, below the pair of figures the fabric is quite worn and the base material can be seen through quite clearly either side and above the bird at the base, it has slightly slipped in its frame but overall in good condition and photograph should be able to pick up any imperfections. Original work is now mounted on a golden satin background. Housed under glass in a later maple frame, label verso stating Found amongst the possessions of Auntie Louis (Miss Watson), Ashfield House, Newcastle, Staffs 1951...
In summary, the original needlework looks to be backed onto golden satin fabric backing, which in turn appears to be laid onto a further fabric pad.
