2000 Chateau Lascombes Grand Cru Classé, Margaux. (8)
Provenance: From the estate of the well regarded Lewes collector, Brian Cramp. Among the largest vineyards of the Médoc, Lascombes covers 112 hectares. It was founded by the Chevalier de Lascombes and was since owned by Alexis Lichine, who gave his name to Château Prieuré Lichine, also in Margaux. Lascombes is now owned by an American private equity group.
Critic tasting note: (2000 vintage) "Tasting older than its true age, this medium bodied, black cherry tobacco scented, earthy, soft wine is in its prime time, drinking window. The oak is not obtrusive. This is not a wine for long term again. No hurry to drink it, but I'd finish any bottles over the next 7-10 years. 91 Points" - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
