Condition:
Oil on canvas in distinctly neglected state, canvas has been relined probably due to a significant tear running over the head of the right side child, otherwise extensive fine but stable craquelure throughout with mould blooming through this, housed in an 18th century carved giltwood frame which is rather tatty, no labels or inscriptions verso. Hard to age the re-line but probably 40-50 years old. Provenance; comes from the collection of a well-known film director. He's clearing a storage unit but didn't have any background to add.
