Relined 20 - 30 years ago, canvas remains tight, paint rather dirty and discoloured, a fine craquelure running through most of the work notably flesh tones of the face and neck and black background, this is starting to lift and flake particularly over the skin, elements of the blue dress overpainted as has been the pinkish cloak and her arm, housed in a 19th century gilt gesso frame which suffers from some small losses
