A late 18th century 'Grand Tour' fan, the leaf painted with a classical scene, the ivory sticks and guards finely carved and pierced, width 19in.
Estimate £300-500

The painted section of the fan has the usual wear to the extremities of the creases and very slight wear to the top edge, there are a series of small holes and cracks in the paper from repeated folding and use, there have been some minor repairs presumably to reattach the paper to the sticks, overall the colours are good with little evident fading, the sticks are in good condition with some very minor losses to the hatched background, there is an old glued repair to the right hand stick which should be evident in the photograph.
