Lot 533 , A George II red walnut elbow chair,

A George II red walnut elbow chair,

A George II red walnut elbow chair, with needlepoint drop-in seat, acanthus carved cabriole legs and scrolled toes
Estimate £400-600

Frame remains sold, very slight wobble to the left arm, timber is of mid to faded brown colour and would certainly benefit from a repolish, a small pegged repair to the top of the left hand support beneath the cresting rail and a similar albeit pegged repair on the opposing side now showing as darker patches, left hand side of the splat has been broken away and been re-applied, colouring differs, seat is old floral needlework now rather worn and moth eaten, seat rail rubbed and worn, legs showing old splits and cracks, the front left leg has been broken off and restuck near the top, the right leg shows pegging and splitting at the top where it joins the seat rail, back seat rail with old worm holes, back legs with rubbing and scuffing commensurate with age and some small losses where they meet the seat rail, overall an honest chair that has seen a fair use over the years and would benefit from restoration.
