An extensive Coalport Imari pattern dinner service, c.1820,

An extensive Coalport Imari pattern dinner service, c.1820, comprising two oblong soup tureens, covers and stand with gilt lion finials and a pair of gilt lion head handles, 35cm across, five vegetable tureens and three covers, three sauce tureens, covers and four stands, fifteen graduated meat dishes, one with fitted strainer, 48cm, together with twenty four associated plates or stands in a similar pattern, also probably Coalport

- two oblong soup tureens, covers and stands - all with some slight wear to the gilding on the high points and the edges, one tureen base with heavy black speckling to the glaze inside and to the underside with some fine crazing, the stand with some wear to the gilding.
- five square vegetable tureens and three covers with lion finials - one tureen base badly broken and re-fixed with rivet repairs underneath, the accompanying cover a section of the corner broken out and re-glued, some heavy wear to the gilding on the lion, second tureen with a broken corner section to the cover with some rivetting on the interior, the tureen base with heavy wear to the gilding on the edge, the third tureen - the cover has some slightly darker patches to the cobalt blue and wear to the gilding on the edge of the base, there are two additional tureen bases which have wear to the gilding other in reasonable condition.
- four large meat platters - one with an inset strainer, largest is 51cm across, has some heavy crazing and slight staining to the underside, it has a deep well for the juices, second meat dish has a deep well for juices, 48cm across, there is some scuffing and wear to the glaze on the interior and wear to the gilding on the edge in particular, there is a 48.5cm meat dish which has some wear to the gilding on the enamels and there is a larger 54.5cm meat dish which has some scratching and scuffing to the interior, wear to the gilding around the edge
- four x 35cm long meat dishes - all with some scuffing and scratching and wear to the well and some wear to the gilding on the edge, one example has a crack to one corner of the well
- two 38.5cm meat dishes, both with some wear to the gilding on the edge, occasional scratching and wear to the enamels, one with a small chip to the edge of the foot
- two 42.5cm meat dishes, both again with some wear to the enamels to the well and some wear to the gilding on the edge
- three sauce tureens, covers and stands with lion finials and lion head handles, each with some occasional wear to gilding on high places around the edges, one of the tureens has been broken and re-glued, the accompanying cover has been badly broken and rivet repaired on the inside, the third sauce tureen cover has a small chip on the underside of the rim and there is one additional spare stand
- three 29cm small meat dishes, one badly broken and messily re-glued, all with some slight wear in the wells and to the gilding
- fifty one 24cm dinner plates - all with some occasional wear to the enamels, some with more wear to the gilding on the rims than others, twelve with star cracks which are really visible underneath but actually still ring, one plate with a small stained crack to the rim, one plate with a shallow chip to the rim and two plates badly cracked and broken
- twenty five 24.5cm soup plates - some with some wear to the gilding on the edge but many quite good where they have not been used, four soup plates have star cracks to the base, one of the plates has two chips to the underside of the rim and three plates have a splinter chip to the inside of the foot
- twenty one 21cm shallow bowls - all with some wear to the gilding particularly on the edges, only seven essentially in good condition, four with heavy crazing, three with some rim chips and seven badly cracked
The service comes with some additional plates in a different pattern but still probably Coalport with some occasional chips and minor damage.
