An 18th century small domed topped leather trunk, with brass studded borders, the lid interior bearing a label - ''John Shepherd, Trunk Maker, 90, Bishopsgate Street, London, the cover bearing a brass plaque, inscribed "Col. W. Miles'', W.17.5in. D.10in. H.9in.

Numerous losses to the black leather, mostly the size of a thumbnail and scatttered throughout the piece. A rectangular patch where perhaps a label was stuck over it at some point. Original brass handle and studs oxidised, the latch is wrought iron. Internal papering is done with old 18th century printed folio pages that have had black dots applied throughout, the label sits above this. Lock not present, only escutcheon. Underside is bear planked wood, there is a split running the length of the base.
