A Kashan silk prayer rug, woven in various colours with the Tree of Life on an ivory ground within a shaped mihrab flanked by reeded columns, with flowerhead and floral spandrels and running scroll and stylised flowerhead and foliate borders, on old rose grounds, 6ft x 3ft 8in.

The rug is quite worn in general. Most visible to the ivory and blue ground however parts of the burgundy ground is also showing signs of wear. Some visible fraying to the egdes also. There is a later backing strip to one of the short ends, possible for hanging purposes??
