Lot 296 , A pair of Chinese famille rose barrel shaped garden seats, c.1830-50, height 47.5cm, one barrel cracked

A pair of Chinese famille rose barrel shaped garden seats, c.1830-50, height 47.5cm, one barrel cracked

A pair of Chinese famille rose barrel shaped garden seats, c.1830-50, each painted with figures of ladies amid pavilions and trees, the studded borders with auspicious emblems, flowers and butterflies, height 47.5cm, one barrel cracked
Estimate £2,000-3,000

The first garden seat has a hairline star crack to the top which is really only visible from the underside but also a splinter circular type of chip next to the pierced section which is visible on top with some flaking to the glaze around it, both of the barrels have some slight wear to the enamels and the gilding and the second barrel has been badly cracked with a curved crack that goes up and over from one side to the other right down to the foot and will require restoration, we wouldnt suggest having this shipped overseas as we don't know how stable the crack is.
