An 18th century violin, labelled ‘New Back by James Carroll, Maker, Manchester 1899’, with slight curl to the back sides and neck, golden to red varnish, incised purfling to the one piece back and penwork purfling to the front, length of back 36.5cm

Condition:
As the label states inside it has a replacement back which is heavily scuffed/scratched and has a small insert of wood towards the top, some wear to the bouts and edges, the scroll has an insert and glue repairs around the pegbox.
