A fine pair of Chinese lemon yellow saucer dishes, Yongzheng mark and possibly of the period, each thinly potted and inscribed in underglaze blue with a six character Yongzheng mark within a double circle, D. 10.8cm, one with section broken, second dish with hairline crack

Provenance - The saucer dishes have been in the vendor's late husband's family for at least two generations - she definitely remembers seeing them in his grandmother's house 40 years ago. The grandmother used to buy at Christie's, so that may be where they came from - possibly purchased 1970's-80's.



The first dish has a 19mm hairline crack to the rim with a minute glaze loss near the edge to the top surface and light staining to the first two thirds of the crack and there is a tiny black dot to the edge of the foot in the firing.
The second dish has a section of the rim measuring 25mm wide x approx. 9mm deep broken into three pieces which do come with the piece and there are two hairline cracks extending downward from this area and it is likely that there will be some tiny splinter losses to the three loose pieces which we have. Another observation regarding the glaze is some tiny "oil spots" to the surface of the lemon yellow glaze only visible in certain light.
