oil on canvas
Deputy commissioner's garden Agra, India,
signed
14.5 x 17.5in.
Estimate £1,000-1,500

Oil on canvas which appears not to be laid down but with a board backing, condition looks to be honest untouched original, would benefit from a light clean, and probably from stretching out due to some of the undulations in the canvas showing in the middle but no real faults noted, under glass in an overpainted slip frame. Label verso for London Picture House Picture Framing Works of Simala Delhi and New Delhi.

Provenance - Ethel Carrick Fox was the sister of the vendors' grandfather. The artist painted this picture when staying with the vendors' mothers' second husband, Hubert Evans; Deputy Commissioner at Agra.
