Overall condition of the hilt is that it is dirty and the gilding is worn, some gilding does remain, the detail to the husk mouldings on the hilt are slightly worn, the wire grip is in good condition with just some small areas of green oxidisation, one side is mounted with a Grenadiers grenade, the other side of the hilt is blank but probably would have been mounted with an eagle, the blade retains some of its original polish with a patchy dull finish, probably two thirds of the blade retain much of the original blueing and gilding but with light rust spots having broken out and some areas there is some pitting, the scabbard is in good condition, the brass is dirty and with some sort of knocks and dents but all fairly minor and the leather retains some of its polish.
